Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival, which will be held between May 10-17, 2012 for the 15th time, awards Bilge Olgaç Achievement Awards to two women this year in order to commemorate Bilge Olgaç, who was one of the most productive women in cinema. Füsun Demirel and Serra Yılmaz will receive their awards on May 10, during the opening ceremony.

Füsun Demirel:
“She took the hardest roles in dramas, comedies… Her success is not on account of her popularity but owing to her hard work. Her acting career in theatre, cinema and beyond was crowned by many authentic roles. She worked in various fields, ranging from translating plays to acting for the TV. Thus, Flying Broom grants the Bilge Olgaç Achievement Award to Füsun Demirel, one of the most productive actresses of theatre and cinema.”

Serra Yılmaz:
“She has been inscribed in our memories as the unforgettable since the 80s. Having started her career in theatre, she took part in many ‘bests’ of our cinema. Besides acting, she has also worked as a translator and a TV producer, bringing about her vast background in arts. Thus, Flying Broom grants the Bilge Olgaç Achievement Award to Serra Yılmaz, one of the best examples before young artists with her unique acting.”

Flying Broom Honorary Award in its 15th edition will be granted to Hale Soygazi. Soygazi will also receive her award in the opening ceremony of the festival, on May 10.

Hale Soygazi:
“She skillfully played roles of women who carry with them in their souls the spirit of rebellion instead of women who carry rebellion on themselves like a badge. She took part in over 50 films during her acting career, which started in the 70s. She proved that one can be a star without alienating themselves from social events, facts of life or world affairs. Thus, Flying Broom grants its Honorary Award to Hale Soygazi, who is celebrating her 40th year in cinema.”
